I took 5 photos of me where I looked depressed and gothic.  The song talks about someone who lost a person who was important in their life.  I chose the lines, "Don't try to fix me i'm not broken.  Hello, i'm the lie living for you so you can hide, don't cry".  In the pictures I took, I am playing the role of the "lie living for you".  The "lie" is a dark and scary thing in the artist's mind.  In the song the artist is trying to express that she does not need another person to try and help her get through the pain, she will get through it by herself.  She is lying to herself to cope with the issue but on the outside she seems fine.  This song really spoke to me and I liked the message that I was given.

c. For all of my image overlay photos I took pictures of my friend, Lucy.  I photographed her doing different actions for each of them.

After working with all of the types of shutter speeds, I learned how to take a variety of different pictures.  I had never used panning or zooming before, and it was fun to learn something new.  I had worked with blurred and frozen motion previously, but I didn't know the other ways that pictures can be taken. 

My favorite picture from this assignment is the panning of the balloon.  I think that it turned out nicely, and it showcases what I can do as a photographer.  I also like the picture of the clock because I think it turned out really cool.  If I were to do this project again I would try new ways to do writing with light.  Writing with light was the most fun to shoot, and there are different types of light I could use.  Also, next time I would challenge myself with the chrono and have the subject overlap.

Motion Shooting Assignment

I think that my successes were with panning and frozen motion.  The last panning picture of the balloon is my best shot.  I had many different areas where I took the pictures so that there would be a variety.  A difficulty that I had was the white balance being off in some of the shots.  Some of them are yellow, but I can change that when I edit them.

Blurred Motion:

ISO 400 f/6 shutter speed 1/25

I took this photo by setting up a low shutter speed and using a tripod.  I made the subject move so that he appeared blurry.

Panning:

ISO 6400 f/14 shutter speed 1/30

I took this picture by following the ball with my camera while he bounced it.  I used a slow shutter speed and focused on the ball.  There was no tripod needed to do this shot.

Frozen Motion:

ISO 400 f/5.6 shutter speed 1/25

I took this photo by using a very fast shutter speed and a tripod.  The shot was taken while the subject was moving.

Zooming:

ISO 400 f/22 shutter speed 1 second

I took this photo by using a slow shutter speed.  I zoomed in on the focused subject while the camera was taking the picture to create this affect.

Motion Blog Assignment 2

Panning:

 

These photos that represent panning are visually appealing because the subject is in focus, and the pictures make you feel like you are moving too.  The moving effect is created by the horizontal lines.

 

Zooming:

 

Zooming photos are visually appealing because there is a focal point in the center, and the entire photo is blurry.  This technique is overall easy to do and has a cool outcome.

 

Chrono:

 

Chrono is very visually appealing because you are using the same subject over and over again.  One photo can show the entire path of the subject. 

 

Writing with Light:

 

Writing with light is visually appealing because you can get very creative with it.  Any light source can be used, as long as you have a slow shutter speed.  The second photo is particularly interesting because it tells a story.

 

Blurred Motion:

Blurred motion is visually appealing because the background is completely in focus and clear, but the subject appears to be moving. The photos make it look like the picture is moving.

 

Frozen Motion:

 

 

 

Frozen motion is my favorite type of motion photography.  It is visually appealing because everything in the photo is clear and there is a ton of detail.

I think shooting this type of motion is really fun.  The designs you can make are endless. You can get very creative when writing with light.  I think I could have made my pictures more interesting.  I had a basic understanding when doing this assignment, but now I understand the concepts better.  If I were to do this assignment again, I would use a different source of light.  Also, I would use an even slower shutter speed.

Blurred Motion:

Blurred motion is achieved when the camera is on a tripod, there is a slow shutter speed, high aperture, and the subject is moving.

Frozen Motion:

 Frozen motion is achieved when there is a high aperture, an extremely fast shutter speed, and the subject is moving.

Zooming:

Zooming is achieved by zooming in on the subject while taking the picture with a slow shutter speed.

Panning:

Panning is achieved by moving with the subject, but keeping the subject in focus.  There is low aperture used and a slow shutter speed.

Writing With Light:

Writing with light is achieved by using a very slow shutter speed and a high aperture.  The light should be moving around while you take the picture.

Chrono:

 Chrono is achieved by taking several different pictures of the same subject with a high aperture, slow shutter speed, and a tripod.  Then you overlap the pictures using photoshop.
